Hello All,
I know it's been awhile since I've checked in. My computer kicked the bucket and I had to wait till there were funds to pick up another. Jason is still in Afghanistan but HC is looming in the relatively near future. His son was born a month ago. I was thrilled to be able to spend the first two weeks of his life snuggling him and helping his mommy get back on her feet. Jase was able to be in the delivery room via webcam. We even have a pic of Jason and Caleb on the computer screen together. His guys teased him a bit that the "daddy glow" could be seen from a mile off, lol. (The glow was very apparent in Chicago too) I am now awaiting the birth of my 4th grandchild (2 withing 6-7 weeks) a little girl.
We are all just pushing through the remainder of this deployment and trying to make the best of things. The babies are a welcome distraction :)
I hope you are all well. Roger - glad to hear Christopher was home for a visit. Speedy recovery to you. And to Jonathan as well. I hope this takes care of his knee.
I've missed the last bit of the previous postings so not sure what else has been going on. I'll do my best to follow along, lol. Take care. Linda Proud Mom of HM3Jason 3/4 India, Staff Sgt. Jon and Rick |

Hey all.......The foot is healing well. I will be on crutches at least until the 23rd. Went to the doc on Friday and he took the post surgery bandages off and my foot was swollen and black and blue. He said it looks good. I'm just tired of laying down or sitting up with my foot up on pillows and boy am I bored.
Friday was my 1 year anniversary of my back surgery and that is doing well.
Haven't heard from Christopher this week. Glad everyone is hearing from their Marine.
Best wishes to Jonathan......

Wow! Didn't realize how long it had been since I checked in. Rumors of my running off with the pool boys are only wishful thinking on my part.
It is spring break for us. Hubby and the oldest son are at the lake drowning plastic worms and the princess and I are trying to see how much trouble we can get into without male supervision. So far we have driven to Houston, caught the light rail and taken it up to the zoo, then back to Reliant Park to see how much food we could down on the midway at the rodeo. Went back to the midway and took a friend with us this evening. Having a blast, just the two of us.
We have two major countdowns going now. The first is for the Marine to come home for his pre-D leave. It is getting very short and I might start glowing if I could forget why he is coming home this time. The other is because Hubby said YES!!!! Spring break next year will find me and the princess in Italy!!!! In case you can't tell, we aren't excited at all. We will just randomly look at each other and squeal.
Not doing much cooking this week, but I am more than willing to share our midway fare. Enough bar-b-que to feed a platoon of Marines, sausage on a stick, everything you can think of fried (including ice cream), some of the best store bought fudge I have ever put in my mouth, chocolate covered strawberries, cobblers with ice cream... Do I have everyone drooling yet? Then of course, you have to have something to wash it all down with. Beer, naturally, margaritas, fresh squeezed lemonade... Oh pool boys!!! I think we're going to need a bigger buffet table.

Oh Rhodi, what fun you will have!!! The closest I ever got to Italy was when I was on a beach in Greece when I was 17.... looking across from the beach, was another beach in Italy!
Roger, I'm glad you are doing well with your recuperation from surgery. Glad folk are seeing or hearing from their Marines.
Mine is home for pre D. It's good to have him home, but it's different. He is much more intense. He also got his first tattoo, the day before coming home... a BullsEye right in the middle of his chest.... Crikey!
Gotta run... the leprechauns are causing all sorts of havoc over here.... |

Able to put my shoes back on. I don't need them to count any more. It's getting closer and I am starting to glow, in spite of myself.
I've had a blast this week with the princess. We spent Thursday in Galveston. We took a friend and wandered the Strand and drove around looking at all the old houses. Spent a little time on the beach, well away from the Seawall and all of the craziness there. Tomorrow we may go to Houston again and hit a museum or two. Going to depend on the weather. May get nasty here tomorrow.
For now, I'm going to go float for a little while. The pool seems a little quiet tonight, so I may even fall asleep. |

Happy Spring to everyone!!!
Heather leaves on Tues:(....we've been soooo busy!!!! We just had a cookout with a bunch of her friends. Tomorrow we're going shopping and to lunch with 4 of her best friends(they call themselves the fab 5)and my mom,dad and one of my sisters....
So now Jonathan says when he gets out in a year and a half he's not re-enlisting and that him and his wife are moving back to Fl just not to St.Augustine. Time really does fly by. He still doesn't know when his knee surgery will be.
So has everyone been hearing from their sons? Whens Anthony coming home for a visit?
Sounds like Rhodi's a busy girl:)
I'll be in the pool with Joyce in my new bikini with my new flotie.....poolboy....round of drinks for my friends !!!! |
