To all of 3rd Platoon...I just wanted you all to know that we are just heartsick over this loss. Bravo is a small close Company. You pain is also ours. We are holding our breath with you. So sorry for the loss of even one Marine, but so grateful that more weren't lost. Grief, relief and fear...all rolled into one. ...YOU ARE NOT ALONE! We do understand.

Just an update, not too much of an update really, but I haven't heard from Michael since Christmas Eve. I'm praying we all hear from our Marines soon and for a few of us, we hear that they are finally receiving their mail and packages.

Hey guys! Just wanted to let ya'll know that we heard from Michael last night. He is doing very well and says he's gotten about 5-7 boxes from us, as well as our letters, cards, and MotoMail. I mainly wanted to post that because a lot of people were getting told NOT to send MotoMail, because they weren't going to be able to receive it. If I were you, I'd continue to write it, because Michael did get his. He told me the last time we heard from him NOT to send it, because he said they wouldn't be able to get it, but now he says to keep 'em rollin', so if you stopped using MotoMail, start back! I was so glad that we heard from him, he says all the platoon is doing well and it has been such a joy to sit down and open the boxes we sent. Also, if anyone hasn't heard about these, we decided (since Michael's birthday is in the first week of April) to find something really nice and USEFUL to send to him. Some of you, or maybe all, know about Tactical Gloves. My Mom and I went in half together on Michael a pair and he can't wait to have them to use. He says they will be great, so if anyone is interested, I will post the link at the bottom. We ordered the tan color, but I heard from several people that you can order black as well, and both colors are acceptable. I just figured tan because that's the primary matching color to their cammies.

Moderator inserted note - to find the link do a search for:

Also, in response to the link above. I know the link says Women, but we ordered them because I can't find them in the Men's listing, but anyway, they are the same thing, just listed in the Women's section, if you'll notice. Just watch your sizes.

Received the gloves I bought for my brother from the Oakley website. They will be the perfect fit, and they are very nice. When I spoke with him, he said they'd definitely come in handy and he couldn't wait to have them.

Hi to all! It has been a rough time for our Marines and I am sure that all of you are as scared as I am. It is very important that we all lean on each other here and keep the family supported. I am praying for all of our Marines. Let's lift each other up on here and stay positive.

We got a phone call from our boy. He was so excited that his Saints are in the Super Bowl today. It's been a long time since we spoke to him so we didn't know if he knew that they made it to the big game. He wants us to send him everything about his team. Fortunately he was able to make a game during his pre-deployment leave. Of course we're having a party today so he wants us to take plenty of pictures to send him. He sounded good and asked us to send more Ravioli and Ramen Noodle soup. He said that they do not need anymore hand warmers. Hope you get a phone call too. Our prayers and thoughts are with all of our soldiers.

Hi everyone, I am new to this, I wanted to make sure I had the right group. I check on here all the time, I was reading the articles and it scared me to death. I am having a really hard time with all of this. I new he was going to be in danger, just not to this extent, I think I was living in denial! I heard from my son 2 weeks ago, but missed his call.I was very bumbed. But you never no when they will call and you do have to try to live a normal life. We all have friends, but I don't think they fully get it. They try to help but so far no one has been able to. So I am hoping talking to you guys will get me threw this. This is his first deployment. So I need any advice on how to cope. It seems to consume you, especially at home. Its better when I am at work, so I try to keep busy. Any help would be great, thanks

Hello Aaron's mom! We are in this together, thank goodness. I do like you mention. I go to work, be mom and wife at home, and try to keep my sense of anxiety in check. We have a local group in our state that meets a couple times a month, what a Godsend! Our Marines are well-trained men and women. And boy, oh boy, do they have the support and love of so many of us here at MarineParents.com and beyond. I look forward to sharing more of this journey with you. Thanks for joining in. Michele

Corpsmanmom..welcome to the board. This will be one of the places to check into for lots of things. But mostly just a place to come where you know there are folks here that understand what it like to be the mom (or dad) at home worrying terribly ---through their pride.
I must thank you very much for your son's service. His whole mission is to render aid to our Marines. This mother considers your son to be absolutely essential and I am so grateful he is with us.

Just wanted to let everyone know I heard from my brother a couple days ago. He says they are doing well, and all seem to be receiving their mail, packages, etc. He said that Motomail is sketchy right now though, sometimes they get bursts of it, other times nothing for a while. He also said they are all doing very well.

We heard from our son today. It was so good to get his call. It's been weeks since we spoke to him. He sounded really good. He said they were able to watch the Super Bowl. He was so excited about his team. He has been getting all the stuff I have sent him about his Saints. He said they have all been getting packages. I could hear some of the others in the background and they sounded in good spirits. He hopes to call back soon.

Hello Aaron's Mom! Its so nice to have you here! I thought I'd start this thread just for our heroes in the 3rd Platoon. The last I heard from Michael was about two weeks ago and he said they were all doing great! I can definitely tell that the 3rd platoon is a very tight knit group, which is very comforting!! I often wonder when we gather here and chat about our Marines, that its so amazing, our Marines are watching out for each other over there, just as we are here. Whenever I hear from Michael, I always try to make notes of everything he says about what they need. He says the Ramien Noodles are GREAT and they love those! Just some other ideas, in case anyone hasn't thought of anything, I'll post at the bottom. He says everything I'm sending is very useful. I'll list some of the things I send, maybe that will help other parents/families here.
-Hand Warmers (Which we can probably stop sending, its getting very hot over there, Michael says.)
-Ramien Noodles (In the Cup)
-Campbell's Soup (In the Microwave safe container)
-Gatorade Drink Mix
-Socks (Dark Colors Only) (We pack these at the bottom and Michael always says we scare him to death that we didn't send socks, then he gets to the bottom and sees them, LOL!)
-Mole Skin (I thought of this back from Boot Camp. They give them Mole Skin to put over blisters on their feet. You can find this at a Wal-Green's or a CVS)
-Razors
-Soap
-Baby Wipes (That's a big demand!)
-Tan T-Shirts (These you can get from a Surplus store.)
-Foot Powder (They ALWAYS ask for this!)
-Beef Jerky (Michael's favorite thing!)
-Bubble Gum
-Cigarettes (If your Marine smokes)
-Sunglasses
-Sunblock
-Playing Cards
-Magazines
-Newspaper Articles
-Pictures (Michael LOVES getting these!!)
-Q-Tips (Travel Size)
-Toothbrush/Paste

There are so many more, but I thought that was a start. I hope that helps someone here!

My son said that he loves the beef summer sausage. He asked me to send that with Ritz crackers (I pack these very carefully so they don't get broken) Chili and real cheese dip in every other box. Another thing is Kraft/Velveeta noodles, the ones with the cheese sauce. But one thing he can't get enough of is socks. Asked me to send him more and more socks.

We heard from Mark on Friday. He has gotten a lot of packages including the Doritos that we sent. He went to the river and got a bath so he was feeling good. They are building showers so it should get better soon. He had just gotten off post so he was tired but sounded good. The kids are calling him Santa Claus because he is passing out pens, toothbrushes and soap that we sent. The reason for requesting so much "under garments" (socks, t-shirts, etc.) is because they have to wear them so long, they just throw them away. Food is his number one request and anything that goes along with spring...
