Got a call from my son. yeah!!! The connection was very bad. Had about 8 minutes of actual conversation time. After we were disconnected for the fourth time, he stopped calling back. Still something was better than nothing. He expected everyone to get packages and mail delivery very soon.

Just wanted to let my 3/6 Lima family know I am thinking about you today. I have really been missing Lee lately. He called Monday but didn't sound at all like himself. I know these guys are going to have a lot to deal with. Not sure when we will hear from him again. I think he was just having one of his down days. I am really glad he called that day. I hope what I said helped him feel better. He said that when they come home they will have about a week that they will have to stay there. I let him know that we would be there when he steps off the bus and we were not going to leave without him. No matter how long it takes. He sounded a little better after that. Hope you are all having a good day. Sending HUGS your way!

Hi all! Just checkin in to say I'm glad we're starting to get phone calls. I got a 3 minute call last Monday from Ethan which seemed like forever, and I loved it! He really sounded good and happy which put me on cloud 9. And I just recieved a letter from him today too which sent me through the roof right before my spring break! It only took like 2 weeks to get here! But he's loving the letters and packages like all the boys so keep them coming! Hope you all have a great weekend!!! SEMPER FI!!

Always in my heart <3 E.M.S

bamamom, I understand when you mention your son not sounding like himself. That is how I felt after talking to my son. He shared a little about what Lima has endured and experienced. I too am concerned about him processing the experience and maintaining some of the attributes that made him special to me. I continue to pray daily the God will protect them both physically and emotionally. This I know...they will have a lot to process and it will take time. It will feel sooo good when we finally get to hug our boys.....it will make everyone feel better. I'm glad that he sounded more upbeat after you talked. We will persevere with the prayers and keep counting down the days. Blessings!

We got a call yesterday from our son and he sounded good. The packages are getting to him but not all of them have arrived yet. He asked for more tobacco and junk food! I got a nice donation from my CEO and I'm spending most of it on socks and foot powder...Prayers to all our Marines!

tmsrls--that breaks my heart--I will try to find out next time I get a call-some names- and send some pkgs. to those that may not get anything.

I feel the same way--very difficult when they sound different--we have experienced that as well--take care.

The worries and concerns then seem small compared to having to go through this. Not knowing if he's receiving my letters and packages makes it more difficult. If the news would provide daily information on what/how they're doing might make it easier ?? I haven't gotten a call from him, he was able to call his father Wed and say he was ok, that they were very busy. Concern for his/their physical and emotional well-being. There should be training for parents of Marines so somehow we can get stronger. Time going too slow.

Does anyone know who I address packages to if I want to send it to the entire company? Do I still address it to my son? By the way he called this morning and spoke to his brother (17 years old) I am so glad they got to talk...its the first time since he has been deployed. Hugs and prayers to all!!!

I have not yet heard from my son. I keep praying that it will be any day now. It broke my heart to hear about the Marines that have no support from family back home. Is there a way to get a list of names? I would love to send them a care package.

Lauren and everyone, we cannot share names of Marines per our registration guideline 2 -- not being able to request personal identifying information of Marines. Once you give someone your Marine's name and address you have lost control of it as you don't know who they might pass it on to...and so on. I wouldn't want my son to receive negative rants from someone who may have received his name way down the line from someone else.

I know your heart is in the right place, but I hope you understand our position. Your son might be able to share someone with you or you could send extra boxes to be shared in any way he sees fit.

Everyone, please be sure to sign up your Marine with our own Care Package Project™
http://www.thecarepackageproject.com/
Please read about 1/3 of the way down at the above link about sharing names. We don't share any we receive and only a select few volunteers even see them.

Look for the link to the left "Request a Package".

With pride in and prayers for all who serve our country,
Sandy, VPM of Brian

Sandy....thanks for your reply. I understand what you're saying and it makes perfect sense. I never though about it that way. I think I'll take your advice and send a couple of extra packages to my son and ask him to give them to those young men to aren't as fortunate.

Got an email yesterday from another Marine Mom friend of mine in Idaho. Their Marine Corp League was looking for a unit to send packages to and she thought of Lee's unit over there. They are going to be sending packages over to Lee to hand out to the Lima guys that are not getting any packages. She is suppose to let me know how many packages they are sending so I can try and let Lee know how many are coming.
