Hello Im glad some are hearing from their loved ones. Has anyone gotten any feed back on pkgs. As in are they receiving them yet?
I also wondered about the custom forms do you need to write everything down or just hit & miss?
And I guess Im long winded today...Ive searched every nook & cranny for info on 3/4 but havent really gotten anything. Did they split up the 3/4 to different comp?

Yeah, I thought about not specifically listing the psp. Not like it is going to matter that much anyway. I just hope it gets there ok because they are kind of expensive, I think.

Hi BBB

I havent found any 3/4 news either. I suppose that is a good thing. Logistically, I do not know how it all works, I think they like to keep it that way.....Based on other Battalion reports I see in the news, you may get a feel for this if you look at the press for Golf vs Fox or Echo for example.......

I am getting together Nic's bday box. It is a pizza party movie theme : ). I feel kinda bad thinking I have missed thanksgiving....Darn those boxes seem small.....

I have sent three boxes and my postal worker told me she could waive the customs form so she didn't even take them. Does anyone else know about this? I asked her "Are you sure it will get there without the customs form?" and she said YES. Can someone please ask their post office about this and see if mine is just crazy or it's really OK not to have???

Hi Carol, I can tell you that I was asking all kinds of questions to the postal worker on how to fill out the forms appropriately, she said, don't worry about it. I did the best I could, but I had a sense that they just didn't worry too much about it.

I heard from my son today. He said he saw three packages delivered, so it appears the mail is starting to flow. Also, for those wondering about customs forms, I learned on the last deployment not to list things like aerosols. My lists were very bland and generic, such as canned fruit, candy, baby wipes, magazines, etc. Personally, I would not list anything expensive. There is just not enough space on the form to list everything. I just made sure that it weighed as it should for the types of things listed. If you have problems with a certain postal worker, try a different one next time. It can make it much easier.
Also, my son had a bad cough, so cough drops might be a good thing to send.

Good luck.

FYI - I got an automated call through MCT saying all Marines and Sailors have arrived to their final destination.

Jim - thanks for the update. Could it really be there is mail? Praying it is true. Yes, I agree about postal workers. My last one advised me she would take my box but I should not have tried to tape the 'bulge out of it' trying to over stuff. I could swear she did not give me the discount for military either. She was blathering about her 3 week vacation the next day. I advised her the box was taped not due to the weird sized object put into a square box (honest it was nothing!-all the corner ends were in the right spot) but that I thought they could be dropped in pallets by planes and wanted it to survive. Very compassionate - not!All others have been great.....Anyway I thought it was also slightly annoying to be talking about 3 wks paid time off when our local unemployment is over 13%. Good for her she earned it, but times are tough for a lot of people our forclosure rate is horrid! A perfect time to buy in FL.... : )

Regarding customs forms . You MUST have a custom form , Now as far as filling them out . I would not declare anything expensive on the form . Unfortunatly , people steal froim these pkgs (yes even our military members) Very sad.I usually list the benign items like baby wipes , razors and canned food . just generalities .
The last i sent said clothing toiletries and candy .

Hello All,

Jason called last night. Pretty good connection, all things considered. He sounded healthy and upbeat.

Re: customs forms. I've taken packages to every post office in our area and have never been told I don't need one. In fact just the opposite. They will not accept FPO or APO packages without one. Very interesting.....

I'm really glad the packages are starting to filter in. Nothing for Jason yet, but he knows they are on the way.

Take care all,
Linda

Haven't heard from our Marine yet. Also haven't seen any updates in a couple of days on here. ??? Been following others news in an attempt to keep connected as possible. Glad to hear there is communication with some from there. Thanks for sharing, all. Curious, is the caller ID on your Marines calls showing an odd sequence of numbers? Perhaps I am in the habit of screening too tightly for telemarketers. Probably not the time for that. Just wondering.

Our son has called a few times. The last time he called was Wed. evening 10/22. He hadn't received any Moto Mail and the first one was sent 10/6. He did ask for heavy socks because it is getting cold at night. He asked for Kool Aid and Chips Ahoy.....and yes the Caller ID numbers are odd......lines are long for phones and computers he said. Sometimes you can get on in an hour on a good day.

Stephen's wife said she finally received a short e-mail from him! It just said "love you" and "gotta go" basically but at least it was something...I think he is one of the more remote areas so that probably explains it.

An email today!

Whoop! It is our first. Girlfriend received one today also & a postcard yesterday. Spirits are good, has gotten our packages. In good spirits, busy & said it is a primative place. Glad I sent the blanket!

I am putting together my box this week and really was torn between tuna or pb & jelly. I have sent tuna a couple of times so PB & J won! Nic loves pb and I know I could not go over a month without it. I am so pleased they are getting our things, he said he still hasn't made it through all the stuff. Wait till they get breakfast in a box that was sent last week for them all : )

Apparently according to my PO, the only boxes we get discount on are the large flat rate. Kinda made me crabby cuz I really try not to put hygene & food together and have used 2 smaller ones. This time, the tortillas are going with the wipes - what can you do?

Please email me directly if you know of someone who can use a down blanket. I have an extra one.

Blessings for our Marine family.

Helllllloooooooooo! Anybody home?

Rec'd a call from Jason yesterday. His packages are now taking about 2 weeks. We got a letter from him today. I'm not sure this mom's heart can take any more excitement!!!

I hope you are all hearing from your son's or daughters.

Take care,

Our son is receiving packages quickly, too. I heard from him (it had been almost 3 long weeks) a couple days ago. He seemed quiet, but OK. They had a generator working for 2 whole days and he was able to charge his computer. They have a sparse weight room (or tent) which he was happy about. The phone call was a little frustrating because I could barely hear him, but I didn't care, as long as I could hear a little bit. I'm always interested in what the other guys are asking for...I try to send a package every 5 days or so and I run out of ideas. He asked for black Mechanix gloves (I found online), movies and protein bars and protein powder. My family owns a chain of restaurants in Cleveland and we send cases of their private BBQ Sauce which he says is consumed immediately! This is my first post. I find this site very comforting - tough times, but we're all in the same boat together!

We received a couple calls later last week and an email. We ask every time what he wants and he's not really asking for a lot so we keep sending things like Chip Ahoy Pack, Salsa and Chips, Pop Tarts, Football, Rice Crispy Treats. All the good stuff....LOL...He did ask for Ramen Noodles in the styrofoam cups.

I've heard from Adam several times, usually on FB or AIM. He tells us he and his buddies have received several packages already and some motomail. It's hard to tell exactly what he's gotten, so we have begun to number each package and write down the day we send it out. This way we can tell how long it actually takes to get there. I have found many sites that contain information about the 3/4 -- some news, some photos. I didn't see Adam in any of the pictures, but maybe some of you will see someone you know.
