I don't know how many are aware of an accident that occured involving one of our Marines 7 hours after he got home from Iraq. At homecoming I took his picture and emailed it to his mother since she could not be there. 7 hours after I took that picture he lay in the hospital fighting for his life. Here is the article from the Desert Sun:

'Now it's time for our country to serve him'
Marine who survived two tours in Iraq now in coma due to accident hours after return

Keith Matheny
The Desert Sun
April 28, 2006

PALM SPRINGS - "Be careful."
That mother's admonition so often evokes rolled eyes from children; or a reflexive, reassuring but not heartfelt "I will" in response.

Thank you, Kim, so much for bringing this to our attention. The article is very complete, the circumstances are tragic.

I'm going to tiptoe here, but is he a son of one of our members? I don't want to post anything if I'm incorrect.

This young Marine and his family truly need our prayers and support...

My Prayers are with the Family. Sean also was in an accident when he came back from Iraq the 2nd time. Sean's car was totaled...but thank God he was not hurt bad. I think they come back thinking they are invincible.

Our prayers are also going out for the family of this injured Marine. I have sent the message to everyone I can think of and asked for Prayer. God still works miracles. Keep your faith strong, don't ever give up hope. Pray that God can use him through this accident to show others what a great God we serve. You are right, it could have been any of our Marines. You are our family and we will continue our prayers and any help we can. Busha

My heart goes out to this family and will do what I can for them. It was not so long ago that my family was in the same situation and many Marine Families came to my rescue. Praying with all my heart for Ben.

Hi I had a minute and wanted to thank everyone for the prayers and support. We are talking with his docs tomorrow, and it seems he tried to pull out his trach, which is good and bad, he had been too weak to do anything last week.
