Preparing for deployment

* Have a childcare plan in place in case of emergencies.
* Double check that your contact information in your spouse's Marine Online account is accurate, since this is now the preferred method of noting approved contacts for deployed Marines
* Although you might not always need it, it's always a good idea to have a valid passport. It could make travel go much more smoothly to areas where your spouse might be stationed/deployed if necessary.
* Your FRO/KV will be your main source of information during a deployment, during pre and post deployment as well.

During Deployment
* In cases of death, serious illness, childbirth, the Red Cross should be contacted to assist in locating/contacting deployed Marine

* When communicating with your Marine it is important to follow the rules of OpSEC

* Homecoming dates will be passed down from the FRO, more than likely they will have more up to date information than your Marine
* There is no dress code for homecoming, where what you feel comfortable welcoming your Marine home in

CARE PACKAGES

* Even though your Marine may have a mailing address before he deploys, it is best to wait until the Marine arrives in country.
* Mail delivery time varies usually anytiem from one week to several weeks.
* Remember to properly fill out the customs forms and addresses in order to ensure prompt mail delivery. Also remember to double check the prohibited list of items before mailing your first package.
* You can get free packing supplies from the USPS, visit their website for more information.
